Tired of Tinder? So are these guys, but probably not for the same reason you are.
Endlessly messaging back and forth on Tinder without getting anywhere? Going on dates, but things just don’t click? Then your experience on dating apps isn’t anything like these guys.
A study of 2,000 men about the state masculinity in 2017 carried out by University College London and Harry’s razors found a number of conclusions including that older guys are happier than younger ones — but the juiciest info was revealed in an article in The Sun written by one of the lead authors.
During his interviews for the study, co-author Martin Daubney said he met a few guys who were tired of Tinder. Not because dating sucks these days and it’s hard to connect, but because it’s too damn easy.
“When I first got Tinder two years ago, it was heaven,” 25-year-old Simone Ippolito reportedly said. “In three months I got 300 matches. They were coming so fast I couldn’t keep up.”
But despite his success, Ippolito said Tinder is actually what your parents and friends in relationships think it is.
Another guy, 34-year-old Gary Barnett, said with Tinder, “sex is on tap.”
Barnett also said dating apps have shifted the dating dynamics. “The gender roles in dating are being completely flipped. Women hold the power, and it can be difficult, weird and bizarre.”
Another couple of guys said Tinder has made them feel “lonelier” as well as “empty and unfulfilled.” They both deleted Tinder for a point in time.
First thing I’ll say is these guys are totally full of it. Millennials are having less sex on average than older generations, not more. It is completely possible to find love on Tinder, as it is in person. It really infuriates me that this stupid stigma against dating sites continues to be spewed
The next thing I’ll say is that if Tinder is getting you down for one reason or another, then get rid of it! There are plenty of great dating apps and niche sites for you to find someone you like — and yes, love. Plus, they don’t all hold the stigma that Tinder holds. Here are a few great options:
